OUR WORK
BOARD FENCE INSTALLATION
CENTRAL OREGON
BOARD FENCE
BUILT FOR WORKING PROPERTIES AND HIGH DESERT WEATHER
Board fence is one of the most versatile and time-tested fencing options for Central Oregon properties. All Aspects Fencing installs board fence for ranches, horse properties, livestock operations, and acreage throughout the region, from large pasture enclosures to smaller paddocks and property boundary runs.
What makes board fence work in Central Oregon is simple construction that holds up well in freeze-thaw conditions, high UV exposure, and variable terrain. Posts are set in concrete to the correct depth for the soil and frost conditions of the specific site. Boards are installed straight and tight, with spacing and board count configured for the animals or use case at hand.
All Aspects Fencing owner Jake Robinson grew up building and repairing board fence on a working ranch. This isn’t just a service we offer, it’s work we understand from the inside out. Every board fence we install is built to the same standard we’d want on our own property

COMMON QUESTIONS
BOARD FENCE FAQS
A properly installed board fence in Central Oregon typically lasts 15-25 years or more, depending on the wood species, post treatment, and how well it’s maintained. Posts set in concrete with the correct depth for local frost conditions are the biggest factor in long-term performance. Boards can be replaced individually as they wear, which extends the life of the overall fence significantly.
Douglas fir is the most common board fence lumber in Central Oregon. It’s locally available, strong, and holds up well in the high desert climate. Posts are typically pressure-treated pine or fir for ground contact. We’ll walk you through material options and tradeoffs during the estimate process so you can make an informed decision for your specific property.
Two, three, or four boards are standard depending on the application. Two-board fence works well for cattle and open pasture perimeters. Three-board is common for horses and general livestock. Four-board provides tighter containment and a more finished appearance, and is often used near barns, paddocks, or high-visibility areas like driveways. We’ll recommend the right configuration based on what you’re containing and how the fence will be used.
Board fence uses dimensional lumber (flat boards) attached to round or square posts. It’s the classic painted or stained look you see on horse farms and ranches. Pole fence (also called rail fence) uses round peeled logs for both the posts and rails, giving it a more rustic, natural appearance. Board fence tends to offer more flexibility in board count and spacing, while pole fence has a more traditional aesthetic. Both are excellent options for Central Oregon properties. The right choice depends on use, aesthetics, and budget.
